Project: Los Angeles ADU Prototype, 2017

Location: Santa Monica, Los Angeles

Team: LOC Architects - Poonam Sharma, Ali Jeevanjee, Tessa Forde

ADCube was an entry to an Accessory Dwelling Unit competition that called for innovative designs for ADUs under the new LA regulations of 2017. Pre-fabricated off site, the scheme could be installed rapidly and with minimal impact on the home owner. Its small footprint and solar panels would allow it to be almost entirely self sufficient.

The drawings were done in the style of both David Hockney and Ed Ruscha, speaking to a very specific Los Angeles aesthetic. The scheme also pointed to the commodification of architecture: “Pay Nothing Until April.”
