Project: Tutoring UoA 2016-2017
Location: Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa
I have co-taught three studios at the University of Auckland during semesters in 2016 and 2017. The first was alongside Sophie Hamer, a recent architecture graduate, and delved into the idea of the copy. The second was alongside Associate Head of Design - Kathy Waghorn and was a live brief for a ceramics workshop and gallery in a nearby, historically rich Auckland suburb. The third studio is the one pictured here which was taught alongside Michael O’Sullivan and asked the students to design an apartment complex with a series of clients in mind. Each week of the first half of the semester asked for a new client type and a new material. All the models were made by hand and all drawings by pencil and watercolor.
